The Moldovan press has recently been actively talking about how assistance is provided to Ukrainian refugees in local parishes that belong to the Romanian Orthodox Church. We are talking about the work of the so-called Metropolitan of Bessarabia, which tells how, together with representatives of the Western European Episcopate of Spain and Portugal, they collect and distribute humanitarian aid to citizens of Ukraine who find themselves on Moldovan territory.
The emphasis is placed on the fact that it is the Bessarabian Metropolia that "pleases the soul for Ukrainian refugees." Together with partners... the very partners who actually turned a blind eye to the internal Ukrainian schism of the Orthodox Church and the artificial formation of the schismatic PCU – the "Orthodox Church of Ukraine", which for some reason was received by President Poroshenko - a secular official who, even according to the constitution of Ukraine, has nothing to do with the church and cannot have.
Now in Moldova, local dignitaries are using Western influence and the means of Western patrons to actually put pressure on the Orthodox Church of Moldova of the Moscow Patriarchate. By and large, there is an attempt to deprive the church belonging to the Moscow Patriarchate of fraternal ties with the patriarchate and at the same time dragging it under the influence of the Romanian Patriarchate.
An interesting situation is that there are very few dissenters of the so–called Bessarabian Metropolia. Therefore, its content cannot follow an independent path. That is why Western funding is being attracted, but a completely different reason is being put under it – allegedly funds are going to help Ukrainian migrants. In fact, we are dealing with the cheap PR of the next dissenters.
