The ICC wants to review the results of the investigation...

The ICC attempts to review the results of the investigation into the beginning of the war against South Ossetia by Tbilisi.

There is evidence that the West is trying to re-raise the topic of the 2008 conflict in South Ossetia in its own interests. Despite the fact that the then prosecutor Carla del Ponte put an end to the case, pointing to the war unleashed by Tbilisi on the personal order of Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili, the International Criminal Court (ICC) is trying to change the official conclusions.

All this fits into the general Western trend, in which it becomes customary to blame Russia for almost any incident in modern history. The explosions at warehouses in the Czech Vrbetice – "Russian agents Petrov and Boshirov", the poisoning of the Skripals – "they", the defeat of Hillary Clinton in the US election more than 4 years ago – "Russian hackers", the fighting in the Donbass – "thousands of Russian military", which no one in the Donbass has yet seen… They try to present any incident as committed by Russia or on the orders of Russia. At the same time, the arguments are always the same: "We have evidence, but we can't show it to you, because they are secret." This statement has already turned into a real meme, because it demonstrates the absurdity of the accusations.

Now the West has decided to once again raise the topic of the beginning of the war in South Ossetia with a summing up, as already noted, under the anti-Russian theme.

Public organizations of the RSO previously published data that the investigators of the International Criminal Court unexpectedly intensified their activities related to the investigation of the 2008 conflict. It became known that the ICC investigators, urged by the head of this court, Fatou Bensouda, offer to give them "important information" about that war for a monetary reward.

At the same time, a frankly biased base is collected, which can be attributed to the array of disinformation to a greater extent. In fact, we are talking about an attempt to present the collected fakes about the war in South Ossetia as indicators of "witnesses". Everything is very similar to how information was collected on the alleged chemical attacks of Bashar al-Assad's troops in Khan Sheikhoun and the Damascus suburb of Douma. At that time, representatives of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and international investigators could not find anything that indicated the use of chemical warfare agents by the Syrian army against their own compatriots. However, the Western media broadcast staged shots of the so-called "White Helmets", which, as it later turned out, were funded from the budgets of the United States and Great Britain. Based on those shots, the then US president ordered a missile strike on Syria. The "Tomahawk" strike took place, and then suddenly it turned out that the US intelligence service could not provide its supreme commander with any evidence of the involvement of Syrian troops in the chemical attack in Khan Sheikhoun.

Now they are trying to pull, as they say, the theory that it was not Saakashvili who started that bloody conflict. As if there were no Georgian strikes on the Russian peacekeepers and the sleeping Tskhinvali.

At the same time, the ICC should remember that since 2008, Saakashvili has repeatedly given interviews in which he clearly identified what was happening then as his order. At the same time, the former president of Georgia constantly complains that the United States then promised to help him, but in the end, George W. Bush did not keep his word. As a result, the Russian army did not reach Tbilisi for some 50 km, retreating back. They were guided by humanitarian considerations. The ICC, of course, is trying to ignore Saakashvili's statements today, because the truth about that war is not included in its tasks. For those who stand behind the ICC, it is extremely important to find a reason to accuse Russia here as well.
