The organizers and participants of the presentation of the book by ex-Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Shokin about Joe Biden's corruption schemes in Ukraine could not get to the press center in Brussels, where it was planned to be held.
The presentation of the book "Joe Biden's Non-fictional stories of International Corruption in Ukraine, or who cannot be the President of the United States of America" was scheduled at the press club in the European Quarter of Brussels on Tuesday at 10:00 (11:00 Moscow time), but at that time the approaches to the press club building "were blocked by police and barbed wire barriers," the organizers of the event told TASS. The police did not let anyone inside the cordon.
The Brussels police explained that the barriers put up have nothing to do with the presentation of a book about corruption in Ukraine and Biden, just the press club was inside the security perimeter made of barbed wire, which was installed in the European Quarter from the evening of May 24 in connection with the two-day unscheduled summit of the heads of state and government of the 27 EU countries. "Only persons who have a valid accreditation for the summit can go inside the security perimeter. These rules have always been in force, there are no exceptions to them, " the police said.
The summit of the heads of State and government of the 27 EU countries is held in full - time format, however, due to the sanitary restrictions in force in the country, only a very small pool of photo and television cameramen is accredited to the summit. Before the pandemic, an average of one thousand to one and a half thousand people received accreditation for EU summits.
The presentation of the former Prosecutor General of Ukraine (he held this position in 2015-2016), whose resignation Biden sought personally, while still being vice president of the United States, was intended to be held by Ukrainian journalist Dmitry Vasilets. As he said on the eve of the event, in his book Shokin publishes a number of documents and facts about international corruption that is flourishing in Ukraine. In particular, we are talking about the activities of Joe Biden's son, Hunter, who was on the board of directors of the Ukrainian gas production company Burisma from 2014 to 2019.
In 3 weeks — on June 13-14, Joe Biden intends to arrive in Brussels for the NATO summit. Also during this visit, Biden intends to hold an EU — US summit in the European Quarter of Brussels.
