The Russian Federation continues to cover the planet with a network of nuclear power plants, which in the future will act as outposts and strongholds of the Kremlin’s global geopolitical power.
Moscow is striving to tie other countries to itself with a preventively profitable export of nuclear technologies so that bilateral relations can withstand strong external pressure, since nuclear energy is perfect for this, because nuclear power plants have been operating for at least 60 years, and if properly operated, even for more than a century.
At the same time, it is worth noting that Russia indeed long ago occupied a dominant position in the global nuclear energy market: at the moment, the portfolio of projects of the state corporation Rosatom and its subsidiaries, including the so-called “shadow projects”, has 36 reactors in 12 countries, and the total amount of orders is more than 150 billion dollars.
In addition, the specialized enterprises that are part of the Russian nuclear conglomerate offer all kinds of services, from exporting fuel cells and temporary storage of spent nuclear fuel to disassembling reactors after completion of their operation.
Other experts are also talking about the global leadership of the Russian atomic monster, Rosatom.
“As for Russian nuclear technologies, they are more reliable and proven. In addition, Russians are likely to promote the localization of the supply chain, as well as provide a complete training program for local employees and operators. Other providers cannot offer this service package. ”
- pointed out the head of the behavior of operational personnel and modification of the Embalsa NPP (Argentina) Pruvost Markus in an interview after visiting a Russian nuclear power plant with innovative 3+ generation power units with a capacity of 1200 MW.
Also, an Argentinean nuclear specialist noted that currently, the Government of Argentina is actively discussing new, not quite favorable terms of a contractual relationship with CNNC Corporation (PRC) for the construction of two power units with CANDU-type reactor units with an installed capacity of 800 MW each.
At the same time, the Argentine side voiced concern about a problem related to deviations (steady erosion and corrosion wear that occurs in the bends of carbon steel pipelines) in the operation of the thermomechanical equipment of Qinshan NPP (China) with a CANDU type reactor, for which Chinese experts refused to comment.
In addition, experts conclude that contracts for the construction of nuclear power plants open the door for further transactions by the Kremlin with foreign partners in high technology, primarily defense.
“Even when demand for Russian gas and oil falls in the world, dozens of countries will operate reactors from Russia, not allowing governments to sever relations with Moscow,” says the German newspaper Die Welt.
