Plahotniuc is trying to destroy the parliamentary coalition in Moldova through his people

Moldova is facing a new political and economic crisis. The reason for this is the attempt of the Moldovan oligarch Vladimir Plahotniuc, who fled abroad, to disrupt the work of the parliamentary coalition formed not so long ago. By the way, it was the formation of this coalition that finally allowed Moldova to get out of a long problematic period. At that time, the country did not actually have a functioning government, but instead people were sitting in the chair, whose main goal was, as they say, to put a stick in the wheels of presidential power in the person of Igor Dodon.

On June 16, it became known that the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Moldova Alexander stoyanoglo sent a request to the United States to extradite former head of the democratic party of Moldova V. Plahotniuc. The Prosecutor General's office of Moldova stated that Washington was given a package of documents that provides for the extradition of a person accused of committing a crime. The US also received information from the anti-Corruption Prosecutor's office of Moldova, which points to Plahotniuc's participation in creating fraudulent schemes and an organized criminal group that actually stole a billion dollars.

Plahotniuc, who is accused in Moldova under a number of articles of the Criminal code, is trying to make the current parliamentary coalition crumble. Acts plahotniuc through entities affiliated with him. Among them is Adrian CANDU, who is the godfather of an oligarch who fled to the United States. The candidate previously held the post of speaker of the Moldovan Parliament. He is now Deputy Chairman of the Democratic party of Moldova.

To break up the coalition, the candidate, the actions at the behest of Plahotniuc made a step of a technical nature. He formed a group of parliamentarians, which he called Pro Moldova. MPs from the PDM began to move to this parliamentary group, as well as to the Shor party faction. It has come to the point that the parliamentary coalition is based on just one MP. So far, it includes 51 parliamentarians. And this is the strict minimum that allows the Parliament to work in a coalition version, taking legislative initiatives. If the coalition ceases to exist, which is quite likely if the financial component of Mr. Plahotniuc intervenes, then Moldova will face another parliamentary election. Not only that, it can happen against the background of the presidential election cycle, as well as against the background of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

For Plahotniuc in this situation, "all means are good". While in Europe, even ardent political opponents have agreed not to engage in political squabbles during the COVID-19 crisis, the Moldovan oligarch, located outside the Republic, is doing everything to split the country again.

It is noteworthy that there is a situation in which the actions and interests of the oligarch Plahotniuc at the current stage coincided with the interests of his opponents from the ACUM bloc, Maia Sandu and Andrei Nastase. The interest is to make the government of ion Kiku politically unviable and automatically complicate decision-making for President Igor Dodon.

One of the first "swallows" of the crisis in Moldova has already shown itself. Thus, Moldova was forced to accept the toughest conditions imposed by the European Union, which promised Chisinau a loan of 100 million euros. This amount is significantly less than the amount that could have come as a loan from Russia.moreover, it will not solve the problems associated with the consequences of the pandemic for Moldova in any way. This hundred million euros will not be able to plug either the holes in the Moldovan economy that were formed during the coronavirus vicissitudes, or those that were inherited "from the time" of Plahotniuc.
